Can the MyShake Desktop version being developed now have this more detailed UI? A downloadable program with a visual of the earthquake in real time like this would help very much. It's astonishing how a program from 7 years ago tells more information about an earthquake than the current state of MyShake now.

I hired on in 1988 my first visit to Sacramento was to Chief Deputy Director Don Irwin's office to receive my new employee briefing afterwards he walked me down to the warning center where I was handed my OES Telecommunications Assistant Chief Badge. This June marks 35 years with the Agency and it has been an amazing journey. I'm always available by phone and rarely unplug because in my experience you never know when the earth is going to shake, a fire will erupt, and some event will cause us to be activated. At 35 years people ask when I'm going to retire, I won't say I haven't thought about it (sometimes more than others) but at the same time I can't imagine really doing anything else because I really love what I do. Well other than putting on that special Red Suit in December. Great Video! many memories of wonderful people and historic place to visit. I began my career working in the Region VI Ontario Office where Deputy Director Dick Andrews was based, a short time later a young ESC was hired by the name of Mark Ghilarducci to work with Dick, we had ESC Melanie Ingram, Region Manager Garder Davis, Yvonne Richards secretary for Dick, Mike Guerin the Region VI Law Coordinator and Daysie Lopez was our Office Tech. We also had a Region I Office then located in the State Building basement at 107 S. Broadway in downtown Los Angeles where our Emergency Operations Center was located and had a similar complement of ESC's, TCOMM Coordinator Don Root, Radiological Coordinator and Region Manager who was Jim Alexander. Shortly after I began with OES plans were in the works to move the Region I office to Los Alamitos, the property at Los Al was a blank canvas and the first thing placed was I storage container to cache equipment to support the activation if needed in the gymnasium. The Los Alamitos facility really was a temporary location until a permanent facility could be built. The Region I Office was really no different from our Meadowview facility it was old, in downtown LA did not support the room or access needed for our growing agency. I'll end by saying Thank you OES for hiring a newly wed and giving me (Us, my wife serves as a volunteer) the opportunity to build a career, provide for our family and see and experience things most people would never have the opportunity to. It hasn't always been easy but our lives have been richly blessed through it.

Another thing they forgot to mention during an earthquake is also be aware of the magnitude of the earthquake just by simple shaking. A five-pointer is just a start but anything above a 5.9 to a 6.9 is a major cause of concern. 7.9 an 8.0 Oakley commence be immediate evacuation from your house as everything will start to come apart including the floor. When under a table make sure is a sturdy table and not one that's necessarily made a certain type of wood. As I said in the video avoid buildings especially if they're made of brick mortar and glass. Debris is hazardous and very dangerous didn't cause injury and death. And I'd like to add one other thing just because a certain area doesn't seem to have an earthquake always stay the fault lines ahead of time. Places like Texas and Louisiana may not necessarily look like they have fault lines but they do.

Who gets charged for the massive erosion and contamination of storm water? Is the state going to fine itself? If this was a general contractor the fines would be in the billions. Funny how when the state is in charge, and fails, no one is to blame, but when it’s small business or any business for that matter, the fines put them out of business. Got to love this system

2016/17 was the first year I started driving to Tahoe every weekend during the snow seasons. It has take me until today to realize why the section of the drive between Davis and Sacramento felt so different in 2017... it was completely flooded! Downtown Sac looked like an island on the horizon that year.
